As usual, we have highlighted some of the most talked-about Ugandan Celebrity weddings from 2025. 

Frank Gashumba and Malaika

In May, Ugandan social-political activist Frank Gashumba ended 24 years of single life by formalizing his relationship with Patience Mutoni Malaika in a glamorous traditional ceremony. On Thursday, May 15, Gashumba was officially introduced to Malaika’s parents in a Gusaba, a traditional Kinyarwanda introduction held in Sembabule District. The event was a high-profile affair attended by dignitaries, including Pastor Aloysius Bugingo, and saw Gashumba pay a bride price of 12 cows and 6 million Ugandan shillings. Despite public debate regarding their age gap, Gashumba and Malaika celebrated their union in a ceremony that blended Rwandan and Ugandan traditions. Following their marriage, the couple welcomed their first child together on September 15, 2025, a news milestone Gashumba announced during a radio appearance.

Abraham Luzzi and Sarah

Following a traditional introduction ceremony earlier in the year, in May 2025, Ugandan businessman turned politician Abraham Luzzi married his partner, Sarah, in a lavish ceremony that captured significant public attention. Sarah, popularly known by the moniker "Sarah is Tall" a phrase Luzzi frequently uses—is the granddaughter of former Finance Minister Dr. Hon. Hajjat Syda Bbumba. The wedding proceedings were grand, beginning with a religious ceremony at Kibuli mosque followed by a high-profile reception at Serena Kigo attended by several Ugandan celebrities and public figures. A standout moment from the celebration was when Sarah surprised her husband with a brand-new V8 with personalized number plate “Ssebo” and fuel money in US dollars.

Julius Wamala and Leah Mwesigwa

In July 2025, two of Uganda's prominent military families were united through the marriage of Julius Wamala, the son of Works and Transport Minister Gen. Katumba Wamala, and Leah Mwesigwa, the daughter of Gen. Hudson Mukasa. The couple exchanged vows on July 20, 2025, at St. Andrews Church in Bukoto during a ceremony officiated by retired Bishop Hannington Mutebi. The high-profile wedding was attended by various military dignitaries and public officials, marking a significant bond between the families of the former Chief of Defense Forces and the former Chief of Staff of the Reserve Forces.

Zohran Mamdani & Rama Duwaji 

Zohran Kwame Mamdani, Ugandan born New York City mayor married his 4 year-long girlfriend, Rama Duwaji in a host of celebrations across continents. Their engagement in October 2024, was followed by a colourful Nikah ceremony held on Vida Creek Harbour’s rooftop in Dubai. They then opted for a civil ceremony in New York’ Lower Manhattan City I February 2025, followed by a three-day mega celebration at his family’s estate in Buziga Hill, Uganda in July 2025. The NYC mayor's event featured masked security and phone jamming, sparking debates on opulence vs. politics. It also blended Indian, Syrian and Ugandan cultural traditions to accommodate all invited guests including the bride’s family of Syrian origin.

Nicholas Bamulanzeki and Brenda Matoma

Renowned photojournalist Nicholas Bamulanzeki officially married his longtime partner Brenda Matama on Thursday, August 14, 2025, in a glamorous ceremony. The couple's journey to the altar began with a traditional Kwanjula held in early October 2019 at Brenda’s parents' home in Kyenjojo, where they celebrated the union of their Ganda and Tooro lineages. Desire Luzinda & Levixone

Following years of quiet devotion, shared ministry and public speculation, gospel artist Sam Lucas Lubyogo aka Levixone announced his engagement to Desire Luzinda, a prominent Ugandan music artist and entrepreneur, via an Instagram post in late July. Ignoring their nosy social media in-laws, on August 15, 2025 at Serena Kigo, the two lovebirds shook both the media and wedding world with perhaps the year's most publicized union. The wedding was livestreamed via platforms like YoTV and YouTube. Officiated by Apostle Grace Lubega of Phaneroo Ministries, the ceremony was a blend of music and romance as the couple celebrated with their close family, friends and few members of their social circles.

Stellah Nantumbwe & Bukenya Saidi

Former Miss Uganda and Big Brother Africa star, Stella Nantumbwe also known as Ellah celebrated her wedding to Bukenya Saidi on August 15th in a lakefront fairytale setting. The couple captured their love story in different celebrations from a private kwanjula in January attended by family and close friends, to a civil wedding that and finally a walk down the aisle in August that stole the spotlight with the colorful bridesmaid's dresses. Nantumbwe's beauty queen elegance was on full display throughout as she slayed all her outfits. Their nuptials was a high-profile affair that trended across social media, highlighted by musical performances from Swangz Avenue's Azawi and attendance from across the movie industry. Saidi, a former Swangz Avenue employee, and Stellah met while serving together at Phaneroo Ministries.

Dr Bbosa and Penina Kemigisha

Sam Bagenda, popularly known as Dr. Bbosa from the legendary drama group The Ebonies, made his long-term relationship with Penina Kemigisha official through a private traditional ceremony in August. The couple revealed they had been in a relationship for eight years, having navigated significant personal challenges before deciding to "formalize" their union. On August 16, Penina officially introduced Dr. Bbosa to her family in an intimate Kukyala held at her family home, an event attended by close friends and select invitation-only guests. Despite public scrutiny regarding their age difference, the couple expressed deep happiness, with Dr. Bbosa describing Penina as a match made in heaven who has significantly contributed to his personal growth.

Baby Gloria & Jonas Mbaleka

Gospel singer Gloria Mulungi aka Baby Gloria officially tied the knot with her husband, Jonas Mbaleka, on August 29, 2025, at Redeemed Church Makerere in Kampala and later hosted their guests to a reception at Speke Resort Munyonyo. The well-attended and colorful event followed several pre-wedding ceremonies, including an engagement in March, kukyala in April, and kwanjula earlier in the year. It was a heartfelt celebration of faith and love. Jonas Mbaleka is also a gospel singer, an entrepreneur, and the CEO of Beyond Creativity. A friendship ignited by a mutual friend in 2017 budded into a dating relationship in 2020 which climaxed into a marriage ceremony in August 2025. Every part of the function was a highlight, from Gloria's father walking her down the aisle, to the couple's entrance dance and emotional speeches, including one from the bride's sister, Jolly. Baby Gloria's mother, veteran gospel artiste Betty Nakibuuka, had previously shared that her daughter was a virgin before the marriage. Following the ceremony, Baby Gloria took to her social media platforms and wrote, "Finally, Mrs. Mbaleka. Thank you, Jesus."

Ykee Benda and Emily Nyawira

Ugandan singer and Mpaka Records CEO Ykee Benda, born Wyclif Tugume officially legalized his relationship with Emily Nyawira, a lawyer. The couple's public journey began with a romantic proposal at Divine Resort on June 13, 2025, where the "Farmer" hitmaker went down on one knee. Ugandan makeup artist Umuhoza Faith, the lead artist at Mona Faces, shared news of her engagement to her partner, Mark, in July 2025. Following their engagement, the couple celebrated their union with a lavish wedding on October 11, 2025. The ceremony was a stylish affair, with Faith wearing a custom gown by Kwesh Bridal and her signature makeup by Mona Faces. The celebrations began with a Kuhingira in Rushere around September 20, 2025, where Stuart was escorted by his brother Canary to officially "pick his wife". Stuart is a professional in the engineering and construction sector, having worked with Dott Services Limited in Kampala. While Angie has largely maintained a private profile, the couple is well-integrated into Uganda's high-profile social circles, with their wedding captured by Millennium Images and widely celebrated across social media platforms. Their union was described as a vibrant and joyful event, marking a significant new chapter for the Mugume family.

Miracle Mbithi and Pascal Kalubi

Miracle Mbithi and Pascal Kalubi celebrated their wedding on 31st October 2025, a milestone Miracle described as the fulfillment of a journey rooted in "prayers, patience, growth, and understanding". Irene Ntale & Vincent Kalibbala

Juliet Zawedde & Bushoke

American-based Ugandan socialite and businesswoman Juliet Zawedde and Tanzanian veteran musician Bushoke real names Ruta Maximilian Bushoke held a vibrant ceremony in Boston, USA on 17th October to celebrate their cross-border love story following an intimate proposal on August 4th.

The wedding was a high-profile event, attended by fellow celebrities, including Ugandan musician Jose Chameleone who not only gave a speech but also performed.

Victoria Sibiya and Phinius Sebatsane

Victoria Sibiya, a prominent news anchor and show host at NBS Television, officially married her partner Phinius Sebatsane in late November 2025. Producer Kuseim & Kathy Bae Powerz

Celebrated Ugandan music producer Emmanuel Kuseim Ssempijja formalized his union with professional makeup artist and content creator Kathy Bae Powerz real names Kyokunda Catherine on December 3rd at St. Kalooli Parish in Ggaba followed by a reception at Kawuku. The journey to marriage began with a romantic lakeside proposal in Munyonyo on June 12, which was captured in emotional videos and shared widely on social media. This was swiftly followed by an intimate, culturally significant Kwanjula. Kuseim, the CEO of Africa Bureau of Music and the mastermind behind hit songs like Eddy Kenzo's "Mbilo Mbilo," and Kathy, an entrepreneur and Makerere University graduate, have been together for close to three years. Kuseim’s signed artist, Pia Pounds, had the opportunity to sing “Bitimba,” the song that started the couple’s love story as they made their way through the reception venue, which featured magnificent black-and-white-themed decor.

The couple held their Kukyala on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at Nantongo's family home in Namugongo. Singer Chosen Becky real names Rebecca Kukiriza officially married her partner Abdul Ssekajja also known as Professor Ssekajja in a civil wedding ceremony on December 16, 2025. The intimate lakeside reception, held at the Ovacado resort beach in Kawuku, Wakiso District, followed their traditional introduction ceremony (kwanjula) which took place on December 9, 2025. The couple reportedly opted for a civil marriage to navigate their differing religious backgrounds, and Becky celebrated the union on social media by sharing photos with the caption, "Officially Mrs. Ssekajja."

Badblack and Asha Panda 

Ugandan socialite Shanitah Namuyimbwa, popularly known as Bad Black, and her longtime partner Asha Panda real names, Asha Nyanzi officially launched their wedding journey with a glamorous private dinner on September 20, 2025, at Mezo Noir Restaurant in Kololo. During the star-studded event, which doubled as a Kwanjula launch, the couple revealed that their wedding is slated for Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2026. Bad Black, who has been with Asha for over six years, described the union as one based on genuine love and mutual support, contrasting it with her past relationships. We, however cannot end the year without speaking about the ‘Phaneroo International Ministries boutique wedding on October 24, 2025 hosted by Apostle Grace Lubega at the Phaneroo Grounds in Naguru, Kampala, where 46 couples exchanged vows in a mass ceremony designed to prioritize the spiritual covenant over worldly extravagance. Organized by Lotus Events, the landmark event was fully sponsored by the church, covering high-end international bridal couture, professional decor, and even honeymoon packages to assist believers whose marriages had been delayed by the high costs of traditional weddings. With little details on his bride but plenty of online hype, Covid 19 lockdown-famous tiktok sensation Sammie Maninie’s held his kukyala at the end of July, marking a step into matrimony.

Lil Pazo and Patricia

Musician, “Genda ogule emootoka” hitmaker Lil Pazo real names Yasin Mukasa and his partner Patricia Naleeba also known as Mama Farid reached major relationship milestones this year. The couple held their Kukyala on Saturday, September 20, in Ibanda in a colorful ceremony that was attended by family and celebrity friends like Bruno K and Suuna Ben. In November 2025, the couple's joy doubled as they reportedly welcomed a newborn baby. Lil Pazo has officially revealed that their Kwanjula and wedding ceremonies are scheduled for the first quarter of 2026
