Favourite Male Ugandan Artists to Serenade Your Wedding

Previously, about wedding music and entertainment, we wrote about how your wedding can be more memorable when celebrity musicians serenade you and your guests with star performances of your favorite hits. We gave you a list of some Ugandan female musicians to choose from for your wedding.

Today, we turn to the Ugandan male musicians list for your function.

1. Levixone

A born again multi award winning gospel artist, Levixone has raised the bar for Ugandan gospel music with his quality. With a deep-seated passion for music from childhood, Levixone first broke onto the music scene in 2010. He has released chart-topping hits since; from ‘Mbeera’ to ‘Turn the replay’, Chikibombe, Yoya among others.

2. Ykee Benda

Wycliff Tugume better known by his stage name Ykee Benda is the real definition of hardwork and diligence. The 32-year-old Mpaka Records boss rose to prominence after appearing on Coke Studio Africa 2017’s Big Breah Segment. Since then, he has created albums like Bomboklat and Kirabo with the crowd favourite wedding song “Banange” which features another celebrated icon Lydia Jazmine.

3. Eddy Kenzo

Grammy award nominee and first Ugandan BET award winning artist Edirisa Musuuza is a member of Big Talent Entertainment in which he doubles as the founder. He gained international recognition with his 2014 hit single ‘Sitya loss’ and continues to hold fort on both the local and international scenes. With his star power, vocal delivery and dance-stimulating songs, your guests will have no choice but get off their feet.

4. Jose Chameleon

Unarguably one of the biggest and timeless acts in Uganda and East Africa at large, Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleon is an Afro beat singer that performs songs in Swahili, English, and Luganda. His lyrically unique voice makes him an artist of his own class. Many believe, he is Ugandan’s biggest ever music act.

5. Pallaso

Pallaso, real names, Pius Mayanja is a recording artist, song writer, producer of a host of music genres like HipHop, Afrobeats, dancehall and R&B. The self-proclaimed ‘King of the East’ is dedicated to his craft, promoting love through his music with songs like Mpa love, True love, Nalonda nemala to mention but a few. His music appeal will be sure to get your guests dancing and chanting.

6. David Lutalo

Such a romantic, David Lutalo’s ability to express inexpressible love ideas in songs is unmatched. The singer is known for his distinctive high toned sharp voice and expressiveness. Lutalo’s act appeals to Uganda’s music audiences across the divide. He will be a favorite for both your urban and rural guests if you choose to invite him to perform at your wedding.

7. Kenneth Mugabi

Kenneth Mugabi is a gifted songwriter and soul performer. His rich unique voice and ability to write beautiful afro soul music make him a unique and enjoyable performer to watch. He blends his guitar and tube fiddle skills carefully to create an amazing background sound for his rich vocals. His rise to the limelight came through being among the top contestants in the ‘Coke rated next’ competition. He has since gone on to serenade guests at different occasions. 8. Bebe Cool

Moses Ssali popularly known as ‘big size Bebe cool’ or ‘Ba-wa Zuena’ literally translated to Zuena’s husband is one of the country’s biggest and timeless artists. With at least 20 years in the industry, his style of music is reggae or ragga. His albums and singles have remained prolific over many years and his distinctive beats are worth your celebration.  The dance floor will come alive with your guests being unable to resist moving to the rhythm, creating an atmosphere of pure euphoria.

9. B2C 

Why pay for one artist when you can get three for the price of one? The music trio boy band B2C meaning Born 2 Conquer also known as Kampala Boys is a versatile group of talent that burst onto the music scene in 2015. Very talented and spontaneous in their delivery, the trio has been releasing chart topping hits ever since their breakthrough. Their performances are electrifying; your guests will be treated to an unforgettable performance.

10. GEOSTEADY

George William Kigozi also known as Blackman or Geosteady, is a recording artist and multi talented musician. His melodious tunes have captured the hearts of music lovers and his journey from the school choir to big stages is nothing short of inspirational. Be sure to host him to your wedding if you want to teach your guests some new dance moves.

11. King Saha

From humble beginnings, King Saha, real names Mansour Ssemanda has steadily risen to become one of Uganda’s prominent vocalists. His breakthrough into the music scene came with the release of his hit single, “Mulirwana” and he has since gone on to receive several accolades. With most of his songs being sing alongs, Saha will engage your wedding party and guests from start to end.

12. John Blaq

Born John Kasadha in Jinja, John Blaq is a song writer and musical artist whose style of music is primarily a blend of dance hall and afrobeat. The 27-year-old star broke into the mainstream with his hit single “Tukwatagane” in 2018 which was followed by his chart-topping collaboration with Vinka, “Sweet love”. With his husky voice and many hit songs trending in mainstream and social media, your wedding will be nothing short of a sing along constant if John Blaq is your guest performer.

13. Haruna Mubiru

Building his name under Eagles Production, Haruna Mubiru went on to start his own band, Kream Production. He is a highly acclaimed singer recognized for his talent and “deep messaged” lyrics. A legend of the Ugandan musical scene, Hajji Haruna Mubiru gained prominence with his breakout hit “Ekitooke Kifa Nsalila”, a song with double meaning about caring for a Matooke plantation as you would care for a lady. His magnetic stage presence will inject joy, love and mirth into your celebration, creating memories you will treasure for a lifetime.

14. Fik Fameica

Blending rap with a mix of dancehall and Afropop, Fik Fameica is a musical sensation in the Ugandan music industry. The “Bwepaba” hitmaker, real names, Shafik Walukaga combines energetic performances with smooth dance moves to guarantee that your guests up will stand up to shake what they got. Your wedding will literally dance in their minds for a long time.

15. Alien Skin

Alien Skin’s rise to fame can be termed as literally Alien because it seems to be overnight. Having first captured public attention with his TikTok videos, Alien Skin, real names, Patrick Mulwana has since turned into a music powerhouse both on the country’s airwaves and at multiple show grounds with mammoth crowds. It’s claimed that tickets sold out for some of his concerts home and abroad. Perhaps because he derives his lyrics from everyday relatable situations. Whatever the case, having Alien Skin perform at your wedding will be an unforgettable celebration.

Look out for Joshua Baraka too, he is a new sensation on the Ugandan music scene that could do well in lighting up your wedding. His hit ‘Nana’ has quickly become a national anthem.

When saying “I do” to the person you love, you simply want to surround yourself with the best the world can offer and finding the right wedding musician is key in ensuring you hit all the right notes, literally. Although there are plenty available musicians for you to choose from, it is important to make a couple of key considerations before booking any. Understand your audience, understand the mood you want to create, of course what the cost will be and how long you want them to perform.
